‘A Medical Consultation’, 1835
Description
Mounted coloured lithograph, entitled ‘A MEDICAL CONSULTATION’, designed and lithographed by Henry Heath, published by I.B. Brookes and printed by Lefevre & Kohler around 1835.
This print is satirising colloquial speech. It shows a uniformed footman lounging in a chair in front of a druggist’s counter, on which there are three large bottles. Behind the counter the aproned assistant is at work using a pestle and mortar.
Their conversation is as follows: “Are you going to Hepsom Sam?”, “Yes, if I can get an Orse”.
