Mounted etching entitled ‘An APOTHECARYS LADY’, designed by anon, possibly etched by Matthew Darly, and published by Matthew Darly in 1774.
A satirical portrait on the pretensions of the Apothecary’s wife, shown in profile to the right, hands clasped at waist, dressed in the height of fashionable “undress”.
Her face is concealed by a large hat (tilted forward over her eyes by her hairstyle), the latest style of round cap beneath, wearing a a gauze or embroidered apron. On the same sheet of paper as ‘A Meek-aroni Hornpipe -‘
