Copper engraving, hand coloured, entitled ‘Apothecary’. Artist and engraver unknown. Published by Tabart and Co. of London in 1801.
The print provides an accurate depiction of an early 1800s apothecary shop. The apothecary is shown standing behind the counter compounding a medicinal preparation using a pestle and mortar and other equipment, including a set of scales. Behind is him is a drug run and shop rounds and jars.
