Box for The Allenburys Feeder, 1900-1960

© 2021 Royal Pharmaceutical Society

Description

Cardboard box originally containing The ‘Allenburys’ Feeder for nursing babies. Manufactured by Allen and Hanburys Limited.

The boat shaped feeder was revolutionary, as it was much easier to clean than previous infant bottles. It had a cap at one end and a valve at the other, which could be removed for ease of cleaning.

An advert for Allenburys Foods can be seen on the side of the box. This early baby milk was already in circulation when the feeder was released, and was a popular product among parents in the first decades of the 20th century.
