Chain of office for the President of the Pharmaceutical Society, 1901
The chain of office of the President of the Pharmaceutical Society, also known as the first President’s chain, comprises 58 plaques of 18 ct. gold, hung in three part rows. Each plaque is engraved with the name and date of office of every past Society President from 1841 to 1968. Each plaque sits within a white gold mount and has a red enamel border. The larger plaque towards the bottom of the chain reads ‘PAST PRESIDENTS PS OF GREAT BRITAIN’ in ornate lettering. This majestic object was made by the famous goldsmiths Watherston and Son, 12 Pall Mall East, London in 1901.
