Although primarily concerned with the wholesale and manufacturing side of pharmacy, the business of John Bell, Hills and Lucas, Ltd., Wholesale Druggists, Oxford Works, Tower Bridge Road, London, S.E. turned its efforts to producing anti-gas respirators during the First World War, for which they engaged a large female workforce.
