Deane was a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain 1841-1874, he sat on the Board of Examiners 1844-1871 and was a Member of the Society’s Council 1851-1871. Deane was Vice-President of the Society 1851-1853 and President 1853-1855. Deane was the 1st and 2nd President of the British Pharmaceutical Conference, 1864 and 1865.
