Painted by Ebenezer Downard (1830–1894), circa 1872 Framed.
Attfield’s ‘Introduction to Pharmaceutical Chemistry’, published in 1867, went through 19 editions during his lifetime. Attfield was appointed one of the three editors of the British Pharmacopoeia in 1885.

Fact

This painting is a copy of the original, also by E.N.Downard, painted to commemorate the help that John Attfield gave to the Chicago College of Pharmacy after it had suffered a fire in 1871. The Chicago College of Pharmacy kept the original and presented John Attfield with this copy.
