Text on paper labels reads ‘Catal. Mat. Med. p. 114. No. 52’ and ‘Lapides Carpionum’.
Robert James, in his New English Dispensatory, says that ‘The triangular Bones found in the Mouth called Lapides Carpionum are recommended in the Colic, Stone, and Epilepsy; and are said to extinguish Thirst in Fever’s, and refrain Haemorrhages of the Nose, if held in the Mouth.’
