Description

Coloured lithograph, entitled ‘L’eleve de pharmacie.’, designed by Jean-Ignac Isidore Gerard (pseudonym “Grandville”), lithographed by Stypulkowski, and published in 1841.
This caricature is a portrait of a bored young pharmacy assistant in an apron; he stands behind a counter unenthusiastically pounding a mortar. On the counter is a drug jar “SODIUM” and a dropper. In the background is a drug run with a drawer labelled “POTASSIUM”.
